About Us
Northway was formed in 2006 and acquired contracts and assets from the network subsidiary of Comtec Europe Ltd. Comtec Europe are a leading provider of Travel Technology in the UK and wished to focus on their expanding businesses in the USA and Canada. Northway was established to deliver integrated voice and data network solutions and has developed it’s fully featured hosted PBX technology using virtualization technology and the open source Asterisk PBX engine.
Northway’s largest single customer is Hays Travel with a turnover in excess of £300m. Northway provide Hays with over 500 connections, including homeworkers located in the UK and overseas using both VOIP and Managed network services.
Northway have approximately 1000 network connections, these are mostly BT wholesale based ADSL-Max products using BT IPstream and WBC tails. Northway also has a wholesale relationship with Bethere.
Northway use Griffin Internet to provide BTW central connections. Griffin have 5 Gig-ethernet MSIL interconnects spread over three points of presence in London. The BT interconnects terminate on Redback routers which recognize the ADSL domain for Northway end customer connections and handoff via two separate London Griffin nodes (Telecity and City Lifeline). These are then diversely routed across Datahop metro-ethernet links which then handoff to two separate data centre connections (Sovereign and Telehouse East). There are two 100Mbps MPLS connections back from these two London nodes to UK Solutions in Studley. Northway have infrastructure spread across UKS north and south buildings which have separate power, cooling, internet transit etc for improved resilience.
